Ayurveda

Ayurveda is Yoga's sister science. These two work beautifully together. Ayurveda harmonises us back to nature and balance through all the seasons.

Ayurveda is considered by many scholars to be the oldest healing science. In Sanskrit, Ayurveda means “The Science of Life.” Ayurvedic knowledge originated in India more than 5,000 years ago and is often called the “Mother of All Healing.” It stems from the ancient Vedic culture and was taught for many thousands of years in an oral tradition from accomplished masters to their disciples. Some of this knowledge was set to print a few thousand years ago, but much of it is inaccessible. The principles of many of the natural healing systems now familiar in the West have their roots in Ayurveda, including Homeopathy and Polarity Therapy.

Sheila Founder of the Collective

Sheila’s journey with Ayurveda started on a trip in Burma far far away, she picked up an Ayurvedic bible of healing at the hotel pool left behind by a guest and a true love affair started.

I didn’t look back , I was unhappy in my job and travelling non stop, also burned out from city life in London and years of unhealthy choices. Ayurveda gave me HOPE.

Finally a science of living in harmony with nature that truly explained what is it to have true HEALTH. I was fascinated, the spiritual side of the teachings also gave me great grace, Ayurveda reconnected me back to spirit and back to my true nature .

My partnership had just ended and I was heartbroken, I moved back home to Ireland and left all my life behind of the previous 10 years, AYURVEDA gave me daily gratitude and a new found focus on how to repair my mental health and physical  health after years of too much partying in my 20’s. My body was depleted, my life force depleted but most of all my digestive system was broken. I suffered eating disorders from age 17 and developed a substance abuse problem in my 20s I had really managed to mess my health up. I needed deep gentle healing and AYURVEDA paved the way for me back to full vitality.

Sheila has qualified as an Ayurvedic Lifestyle Consultant aiming to help people understand their constitutions and underlying imbalances causing them ill health in daily life.

Her training was done in Los Angeles with renowned Ayurvedic TEACHER MAS VIDAL. Mas has written a very well received Book called Sun, Moon and Earth the sacred relationship of Yoga and Ayurveda.

Sheila spend time also in Pune , India on an Ayurvedic internship programme learning hands on in the Ayurvedic Hospital.

She will continue her further education and training this AUGUST in IRELAND at the beautiful Earth Wise training grounds in co Wexford.

Stay tuned to THE COLLECTIVE AYURVEDIC Talks and Ayurvedic YOGA coming soon in September.

Ayurveda Principles

Ayurveda Principles

Human beings are constantly interacting with the universe and its elements and vice versa. We fill space, which gives us a place to live and function in all our myriad ways. We breathe the air, we drink the water , we keep ourselves warm with heat and light

And consume food provided by the earth. As long as our relationship with the universe is healthy and wholesome we can be in optimum health.

According to Ayurveda when this harmonious interaction breaks down it pre-disposes us to dysfunction and disease.

The Five Elements

The Five Elements

Ayurveda states that everything in the universe is composed of energy, and this energy exsists in five different states of density , giving rise to the five elements.

These five elements are not to be interpreted literally but rather as metaphors that help us to understand the universe. They represent five qualities of energy that we can recognise as we experience them daily in our physical, mental and emotional lives.
